We are a congregation of God’s people that first and foremost respect God’'s Word. We were added to the Church by our obedience to the Gospel (Acts 2:37-38; 41; 1 Peter 3:21). We are to devote time in study and pay close attention to what God has said about how we are to worship Him, how we are to live our lives and how one is to obtain salvation. The Bible is our only guide for this life and the roadmap to heaven. Christ is the only head of the church (Colossians 1:15-20; Ephesians 5:23-24). We seek to be the congregation of God’s people that is described in the Bible.Who are we? We are not perfect people as the world uses the word "perfect," but we are God’'s people serving a perfect God.If you are confused about what the modern world teaches and says about Christ, His church and religion, then we believe that you will welcome the plea made by the Churches of Christ:We come before God with a humble spirit, seeking to worship as instructed by the Word of God.We come, not for the purpose of entertainment, but to glorify God and to edify one another. We sing praises "A capella" (without instruments). We learn from the Word of God, not from the works of man.We offer prayers to God.We partake of the Lord's Supper on the first day of every week.We believe roles in the church are dictated by the Word, not from commonly accepted social trends. We do not disregard doctrine in favor of acceptance; we stand firm in the Word.We accept all who will come and worship with us in spirit and in truth, that together we may be found acceptable in the presence of the Almighty.

Our History:
Oldham Lane is an offshoot of Baker Heights Church of Christ (located at 5382 Texas Avenue). The Baker Heights Church of Christ, near Dyess Air Force Base in southwest Abilene, had grown from its modest beginning in 1961 to over-capacity with no room for expansion. The most logical proposal was for willing Baker Heights members to help start a new congregation.
In the spring of 1995 approximately 70 persons opted to leave their roots at Baker Heights and become the nucleus of a new congregation which initially met at the former 16th and Vine Church of Christ building. The Baker Heights congregation had purchased a parcel of land on Oldham Lane in 1993 and the new group saw this as an excellent site for their new church home. With an additional $17,000 from Baker Heights, plans got underway immediately to design the new church building. The group's determination and zeal was expressed in a one-day offering of more than $100,000 toward construction. The building was completed and its formal opening was on August 18, 1996.
The new building was designed to seat 800, but was initially configured to seat 500. Other features included a large family room, kitchen, 20 classrooms, and staff offices. Total cost was approximately 1.2 million, of which $825,000 was financed.
Mr. Jimmy Jividen was Oldham's first pulpit minister under the leadership of Elders Bob Childress, RJ Poe, and Dr. Tim Appleton. Oldham Lane's first deacons were Chris Atkins, Larry Bell, Bob Connel, Eddie Dunn, Ken Dozier, Steve Jividen, Royce Scott.

Nathan Adams
I consider myself to be one of the most blessed men in the world for several reasons that I would like to share with you:
1.God loves me so much that He sent Jesus to live and die to save me from my own foolish choices (John 3:16).
2.Everyday of my life is one that God has given me and there is always a reason to rejoice in each of those days (Psalm 118:24)
3.I have the greatest job in the world with the greatest Boss. Preaching the Gospel provides one a life of true fulfillment and meaning. I have been teaching and preaching since I was 14 years old (24 years). Everyday since I was 14 there has been something for me to learn that has lead to improving my abilities. Studying Gods Word is the greatest adventure that one can undertake because the deeper you travel into it, the greater the wonders are that you discover. Currently I am pressing forward with using technology to its fullest to spread the Gospel and build up my brethren. In reaching out to lost I have created a website (SeekSalvation.org) that focuses on teaching the lost and general Bible study. To meet the needs of some of our brethren in areas where the church is struggling to survive we have developed The Proof of Love Ministries (ProofofLove.org). I direct this program that provides much needed teaching aids, materials, and manpower to small congregations who need help to grow in the Lord and their communities.
4.I am married to Jeanne who is a wonderful Christian woman that God gave to me because He knew that it was not good for me to be alone (Genesis 2:18). She has been His instrument many times to keep me focused and on the right path. Through her, God has strengthened and blessed me in ways that I will never be able to adequately thank Him or her.
5.I have been blessed with two wonderful children in Jonah and Miranda. They have blessed me with their unconditional love. They constantly remind me of how happy and wonderful life is and what a blessing it is to have them in my life.
6.I have been blessed in immeasurable ways by having Godly Christian parents who taught me about God and respect for His word from the time that I was just a very small child. My mother taught me respect for God and others. My father taught me in his many years as a Gospel preacher how to rightly divide truth and to teach that truth in a loving way that can truly change lives. I am eternally grateful to them.
7.I am also blessed to work with two Godly and dedicated Christian men. Chris McCurley and Stephen Winters are convicted and tireless workers for the Lord. To work with these me on a daily basis is a great blessing that builds me up and strengthens me in ways that enables me to better serve God.
8.Being a part of the Lords church and especially the Oldham Lane family is also a great blessing. I know that I am loved because of all the encouragement and help I have received from so many kind and loving Christians over the years. They are my family in every way and I love them with all my heart. I long to spend an eternity with them in praise to the God who made us one in Him.
Anytime that I am asked to write a bio for something, I always feel that they are too self-serving and that they go against my sense of needed humility. Everything that I am that is good or worth telling about is as a result of someone else. Whether it is God, my wife, my children, my parents, or wonderful Christian people, they are the forces that have helped me be worth anything in this world to anybody. They are the voices in my head that guide me. Whatever I have accomplished in this life pales to insignificance in the face of all the blessings that I have received. Therefore, I do not boast save in the death of Jesus Christ through which I find salvation from my own sinfulness and unworthiness (Galatians 6:14).
